Choosing Color and Fabric Of Party Dresses

December 7th, 2011

Party dresses don’t have to be black! It’s so much more fun when they aren’t. If you’re attending a holiday party, try red, a metallic, or any jewel tone. Choose a color that brings your complexion to life and complements your hair and eye color, regardless of the season or trends. Celebrate your womanly figure in party dresses for misses, whether you’re an hourglass, pear, apple, or have a boyish figure.

Basic guidelines to choosing your color and fabric:

Choose shiny fabrics on spots you don’t mind emphasizing and fabrics that tend to be more matte for trouble zones.

Opt for colors that complement your coloring, but as a general rule, darker colors give a slimming effect while brighter and lighter ones don’t offer the same benefit. If you’re bottom-heavy, for example, you could choose a dress with a black or navy bottom and cream top in order to achieve a more balanced appearance.

Choose fabrics that feel good against your skin and only expose as much as you’re absolutely comfortable showing. You’ll have much more fun and be more likely to successfully network and make new friends if you’re wearing something that makes you feel good.
